Epilogue

Ten years had passed since the day Shinjani's life changed forever.

Ten years since a twenty-one-year-old medical student had entered the Malhotra house as a stranger's wife, carrying more fear than hope.

So much had changed since then.

Shinjani was now a successful gynecologist, known not only for her knowledge and dedication but also for the kindness she showed every patient who walked into her hospital.

She had built the life she once feared she would lose.

But her greatest achievements were waiting for her at home.

Her first son, Ayush, was fifteen now.

He had grown into a tall, confident young man who was protective of his mother and completely devoted to his family.

And then there were the twins.

Seven-year-old Shravya and Shinya were the little sunshine of the Malhotra family. Wherever they went, laughter followed.

One evening, Shinjani finally returned home after a long day at the hospital.

The moment she opened the front door, two little girls came running toward her.

“Ma!”

Shravya wrapped her arms around her waist.

Shinya immediately joined her sister.

“Ma! Ayush is troubling us again!”

From the living room came an offended voice.

“I didn't do anything!”

Shinjani laughed.

She placed her handbag aside and looked at her son.

“You're fifteen now, Ayush. Why are you still fighting with your sisters?”

“They started it!”

The twins giggled.

“We didn't!”

“You did!”

“Didn't!”

Shinjani shook her head.

“Every day, the same drama.”

Just then, Aditya walked into the room.

He looked at his children and sighed dramatically.

“What happened this time?”

Ayush pointed toward his sisters.

“They're always troubling me.”

Aditya raised an eyebrow.

“Really?”

“Yes!”

Aditya looked at the twins.

The two girls immediately smiled innocently.

Aditya laughed.

“Of course. They're my princesses.”

Ayush rolled his eyes.

“See, Papa? You always take their side.”

“Because I'm their father.”

“And I'm your son!”

Aditya walked over and pulled Ayush into a hug.

“And you're my first little man.”

Ayush smiled despite himself.

The twins burst into laughter.

Shinjani stood there watching all of them.

Her heart filled with warmth.

Once, she had entered this house frightened and alone.

She had wondered whether she would ever belong.

She had wondered whether Aditya would ever see her as anything more than the girl who had unexpectedly become his wife.

She had wondered whether Ayush would ever accept her.

Now, fifteen years later, she couldn't imagine her life without any of them.

Aditya walked toward her.

He gently took her hand.

“Long day?”

Shinjani nodded.

“Very.”

He smiled.

“Then come sit down. Your family has been waiting for you.”

She looked around the room.

Ayush was arguing with his sisters again.

Shravya was laughing.

Shinya was trying to defend herself.

And Aditya was standing beside her, holding her hand.

A small smile appeared on Shinjani's face.

“My family.”

Aditya looked at her.

“Happy?”

She turned toward him.

“More than I ever imagined.”

He smiled softly.

“Do you remember when you told me you didn't know whether you could forgive me?”

Shinjani laughed quietly.

“I remember.”

“And now?”

She looked at their children.

At Ayush, who had once been a little boy searching for a mother.

At Shravya and Shinya, who had filled their home with laughter.

Then she looked back at the man who had once been a stranger to her.

“I think life gave me something much more beautiful than what I had planned.”

Aditya's eyes softened.

“You gave me a second chance too.”

Shinjani squeezed his hand.

“No.”

She smiled.

“We gave each other a second chance.”

Before Aditya could say anything, Ayush groaned from the sofa.

“Okay, enough romance!”

Everyone turned toward him.

“Can we have dinner now?”

The twins burst into laughter.

Aditya laughed.

Shinjani shook her head.

“You haven't changed at all.”

Ayush grinned.

“I'm hungry!”

The family slowly gathered around the dining table.

There was laughter.

There were arguments.

There were playful complaints.

There was love.

And as Shinjani looked around at the people who had become her entire world, she realized something.

Her story had never been about replacing someone.

It had never been about becoming the woman who was supposed to be there.

It had been about finding herself.

Finding her strength.

Finding her dreams.

Finding love.

And, most importantly, finding a family that had eventually become truly hers.

Sometimes life takes away the future we thought we wanted only to give us something we never knew we needed.

Sometimes the person we never expected becomes the person we cannot imagine living without.

And sometimes...

a second chance isn't a second beginning.

It is the beginning of forever.

The End ❤️
